Room for Rent in Chicago
I currently have a huge apartment in Uptown with 3 lovely roommates in the Uptown neighborhood, but I need to find somebody to take my room from April 1st-July 31st because I was offered a spot in a prestigious writers residency.

The apartment is walking distance to both the Lawrence and Wilson Red Line stops. It is about 2000 square feet. It has a gorgeous front room with hardwood floors, a fire place, and lots of windows.

My bedroom is the master bedroom-- it's very large, lots of closet space, and has a private bathroom.

My roommates are:
2 girls 1 guy
ages 22-23
vegetarian (but open to living with non-vegetarians)
recent college graduates
very nice and beautiful people

Please contact me if you'd like pictures of the place!

Sorry to those of you who are also in Alboners, you get to see this twice.

Hello all,

I know you're probably all home for the summer, but those few who might still be on campus or know people who are in Albion, take a gander.

A few days ago, during one of the rainy periods, a cat wandered into the Grounds building.  He's gray, front-declawed, neutered, left eye doesn't adjust to light, and at the time, was wearing an incredibly ratty blue collar.  One of my coworkers said that he'd be taken to the humane society in Battle Creek by Tamara.

Fast forward to today, when I was out mulberry picking by Kresge Gym the same cat came up to me.  He's since followed me home, and is currently sleeping on my windowsill.

Do you happen to know the owner of the handsome devil below the cut?  Or are you currently missing a kitty?  I can't really afford to keep him, and when I move in August, I can't take him with me.

Thank you for your time

Dear Albion ladies,

We just had somebody leave our annex group because they were approved for off campus housing. Does anybody wanna live in an annex next year? It's a pretty amazing group of ladies. Let me know ASAP if you are interested, otherwise they are going to take our house away and make us live in a box.

I am the author of a book called the Michigan Transfer Scholarship Guide: Public Colleges 2007. The book discusses transfer opportunities available to Michigan college students.  Subjects covered in the book include:

Available Transfer Scholarships

Exceptions to MACRAO

Housing requirements, options, and costs at Michigan’s public universities

Available Majors

Graduation Requirements at Michigan’s public universities

Tuition and fee prices

I wrote the book because, after meeting with an academic advisor at my community college every semester, I transferred with the confidence I would not lose any credits.  And, that’s all.  Residence Life policies at my new school left much to be desired.  Credits advisors had said would complete MACRAO did not, and I could have qualified for better transfer scholarships elsewhere.  Other transfer students I had met were encountering similar problems.

It is understandable that on occasion students may be inaccurately advised.  Academic advisors have the daunting job of consulting hundreds of students about, hundreds of programs, at dozens of universities in the state.  The Michigan Transfer Scholarship Guide is a single source where prospective transfer students can compare all their options.  It will be updated yearly and a version covering this state’s private colleges is being written.

The book can be ordered through Amazon.com, Bn.com, and through any other bookstore.  If you order it through a bookstore the ISBN is: 0-9788542-0-9.

If you don’t want to buy one, review copies have been sent to community college academic advising offices throughout the state.  If you do not have access to a community college academic advising office, please tell your library to order a copy.

This is a desperate plea about Profs, considering that I register tomorrow.

Has anyone had Christensen from the English dept? I'm thinking about taking the Cowboys & Hillbillies seminar class. I've heard that you write an essay after every book (not a huge deal for me) and that s/he's a really hard grader. Anyone have any thoughts they want to share?

Same with Brown (also in English), but for Intro to Creative Writing.

Any help would be wonderous! Thanks guys and girls!

Oh, and I don't recommend taking any Econ class taught by Prof. Yosida. No one in my class can stand him.

Anyone able to tell me what Alpha Kappa Delta and Alpha Lambda Delta are? I think they're both honoraries, but I don't know what for.

How many people usually go for the suites on 3rd Wesley? And how much of a chance would 4 soon to be sophmores (one with junior standing) have of getting a suite?

A friend posted this in her journal, and I wanted to pass it on.
"I know you all still want to help out for my Autism Walk, AND I have another way you can help out a different cause without it costing you anything!! I'm part of the Academic Gerontological Educational Society(AGES) at IC and we do a lot of work with the elderly in the community. One of the things we do (which is a national program) is called Glamourgals, and basically we go to the adult home and give makeovers and manicures to the old ladies. They're so nice and so sweet, and its really more about giving them the social interaction then it is about the actual makeover, but they enjoy both aspects so it's really nice.

So here's where YOU come in:

The search engine Yahoo! just started some thing where every time you do a search with their search engine, THEY donate a penny to an organization of YOUR choice. There's no limitis to how many times a day or to how many charities. So the next time you need to look up something for school or a paper, google your name, look for online games, stalk someone, or just browsing in general, use the following address and make a difference:

Again, this is powered by Yahoo! and THEY donate every time YOU do a search, so if you'd like to help AGES and Glamourgals, just type in Glamourgals (its one word) for the charity you're supporting. Thanks everyone!"

Dear Albion College,
You have my permission to turn on the heat now. I have to wear gloves even inside now, and that is ridiculous.
Love always,

P.S. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of the details of our relationship...this is a love/hate relationship. Don't ever think of it as anything else.

Just to let you guys all know, there's a group on Facebook for all of us LJ addicts. LiveJournal Addicts is the name, and I hope to see y'all join up. :)

one of my friends sent me this and i thought i would share:

"Today we salute you, FaceBook addict. You thought you could just log on once, but little did you know it would consume your life. Joining one pointless group was just not enough. Adding every person you never spoke to in high school just to be "virtually" popular. As if IM wasn't enough to feed into your stalker-ish behavior. Oooo look at you with your 340659 "friends". So go ahead, crack open an ice cold Bud Light, Compulsive Away Message Checker Turned Face Book Psycho. It's too bad that you're not too popular at the bar, but in virtual reality, you'd be the life of the cyber party."

Here's what was posted in the "I need a roommate" paper.

1. What time do you wake up? An hour before my first class (9 am this coming fall)
2. What time do you go to sleep? The goal is 12, but I can be asleep as early as 10:30 or as late as 2. Typically a few minutes after 12 though.
3. When and were do you prefer to study? When I actually do study, I study late at night. I'm really bad with distractions. I go out in the hall with my laptop and click away at work.
4. Describe how clean your room is. It's pretty clean. I live with someone who likes the room to be clean, and so I try to respect that by keeping my things picked up. It can get a little messy around my desk when I'm working on something, but other than that, only my desk (and inside my closet) is messy.
5. Describe how organized your room is. I know where everything is.
6. What has most upset you about a past roommate? She liked to fall asleep with the TV on. I can't do that. (If there's something on, I get hooked and have to see the end even if it's 12:30 am and it just started.) She had guys in the room at night. She sometimes didn't come home at night. She turned the TV on when she came into the room and then would leave almost immediately to "go say hi" to someone; she wouldn't come back for a few hours.
7. What have you liked most about a past roommate? We talk and hang out and do all sorts of stuff together. We're involved in different things together. She and I respect each other and take care of each other. We're friends.

Other points of interest:
I do not want to live with a smoker, drinker, or drug user.
I want to live on the first floor of Twin (or in Fiske).
I'm a theatrical design & religious studies major.
I'm a Christian and would prefer a roommate who is at least interested in Christianity if not a Christian.
I'm the head lifeguard at the pool. Technically, our phone can ring at any time between 6:30 am and 10 pm. I'm appologizing in advance.
I might be off-campus in the Spring.

And, as some PNRs have asked, "Why aren't you living with your current roommate next year?" The answer is simple: She's going to be a senior next year and was trying to get into the Mae.

If you think I'm a possibility, you can e-mail me at ams14@albion.edu
